Aberdare - Athletics Ground
Ynys Fields : CF44 7RP
There was a cycle track at the Athletics Ground, Ynys Fields early in the 20th century and professional racing was held there. The Ynys Stadium, also called Aberdare Stadium was developed on the site and was the home of Aberdare RFC and Aberdare Athletic FC and the cycle track was around the pitch. In 1920, the football club rebuilt the stand and the cycle track was removed. The site is still used for sports including football, rugby, cricket and athletics. The Michael Sobell Sports Centre and Aberdare Swimming Pool have also been constructed.

Aberdare Bicycle Club was very successful in the 1890's and produced world champions particularly Arthur and Sam Linton who trained at Aberdare Park.
